ART!
I didn't make my bed today. I admit it. For the first time in Lord knows how long, I didn't make my bed. The Los Angeles weather was so warm, I had to run right outside to get a good dose of Vitamin D thus neglecting my bed. Although I may seem slothy, I did manage to tidy up the porch area AND had a fun idea. Over Christmas I acquired three Steve Keene paintings and excitedly brought them back to the West Coast. Unfortunately the pieces don't match the decor of my interiors, so I rested them against a wall and planned on finding a place for them in the future. Now the stroke of genius was this: the porch area was rather plain- except for my plants, a rattan chair, and some lanterns my roommate found, there wasn't a whole lot to look at. So, I decided to hang the paintings from the rafters. They will be somewhat protected from the weather and will add a welcome touch of color. I couldn't get a nail to go through the wall, so I hung them from the rafters. Obviously I should adjust the levels of the pieces, but you get the general idea.

How will humidity effect the paintings? They do 'make' the porch! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't be a problem. Friends in VA have had them hung outside for years with no real effect.... and at $10 a piece, it's hardly a costly experiment.
ReplyDeletethey're great. i have to cyber-hang out with you soon to chat about carpentry and gardens.
