I went to the most beautiful wedding this past weekend in Ojai California. I now have borrowed a book about Krishnamurti, found a new love of succulents and gained a total respect for the family and friends of the bride. The stress-free event took place in the bride's parent's backyard, flowers were arranged by the 'aunties,' friends did makeup and hair, and the officiates and toasters all painted a realistic portrait of love, marriage, and the wilderness that is two people.

Below are a few images I "borrowed" from other people. The first is of the garden at the site of the rehearsal dinner. The second is of a gorgeous flower arrangement on the beverage table. The third is of one of the dinner tables as it was being set up. The last is of the bride carrying on her conversation as we bridesmaids attempted to eradicate a red wine stain on the Carolina Herrera.

Not enough hours in the day...

Trying to adjust to being back at work, but it is harder than one might think!  Please forgive shoddy posting habits... I promise to improve, Mom.

The following screen grabs (most likely from designsponge) were sitting on my desktop, and are about to be filed away for later design inspiration.  I'd love to host people there.  The painted wood makes the space seem so open and elegant.  

I am coveting the hutch in the background and hope to find a similar piece someday to go with my dining room table.

Food Fun

Made chocolate chip cookies yesterday.  Big hit.  

Had tea in Venice at the Jin Patisserie this afternoon.  Lovely tuna sandwich.  

Almost canned salsa after but lacked the right size jars.  Project for another day.

Tonight, ate Greek food and watched backlogged episodes of Martha Stewart and Alton Brown.  In love with Good Eats and want this:

 Tomorrow: burgers, mac and cheese, and salad from garden greens.  Will try to have camera on hand!

Beautiful Bathroom

This bathroom was in a New York Times slide show... and I love it.  The high contrast (white/black) is quite elegant.  Another image for the "future house" file. 

Depression Glass

I spend all too much time window shopping in antique stores.  Always learning something new about the tools people used to use.  Always imagining new purposes for abandoned items. Always wanting the set of Bauer bowls or the pristine farm table.  And very recently... I have added Depression Glass to the list of items I covet.

Found a mint condition Fostoria creamer and sugar bowl on a little tray at an antique store last week.  Managed to avoid buying it - hoping to quell the desire - but after two days passed I had to go back and give the piece a proper home.  Because I loved it so much, I hoped that my soon-to-be-bride friend would too.  (She is one of my few friends who appreciates antiques and history which makes me love her all the more)  I had some help wrapping (see earlier post) and gave her the set for her bridal shower.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture before gifting the items.  Found the above photo of the set (sans tray) online.
